Taking Care of your Tattoos
Tattoo Care with "Saniderm", "Second skinz", "Derm shield"
With Saniderm, you can shower and go about your daily activities without worrying about getting contaminated or infected, and your new tattoo will be protected from fading and flaking/scabbing. Moreover, it significantly cuts down on discomfort and healing time. Similar products include Tegaderm, Derm Shield, and tattoo-derm.

A day after getting a tattoo, ink, and plasma may be trapped underneath the wrap and you won’t be able to see the tattoo clearly. This is normal. To continue to protect your tattoo, we will re-wrap that bandage for you at our studio. If you have an extra wrap, you may change the wrap yourself. First, gently wipe it with soap, and rinse with water. Before re-wrapping your tattoo with Saniderm dab dry with a paper towel or allow to air dry completely.
-
Leave the new wrap in place for 5 or 7 more days. You can take showers with it and practice daily activities without worry of infection. Do not swim or soak in a bath for 2 weeks until the tattoo is healed.
-
After the 5th day, you may remove the wrap and clean the tattoo again. We strongly recommend removing during or after a hot shower. It will help to loosen up the adhesive, allowing for easy removal. Use soap to clean any residue.
-
After removing the bandage, apply Aquaphor twice daily until the tattoo is completely healed (about 1 week later).
If you are unable to re-wrap the tattoo yourself and are unable to return to the shop to get it re-wrapped, remove the tattoo wrap after 24 hours and follow the instructions below.
If you have sensitive skin or are allergic to the second skin, we recommend you take off the second skin and follow the instructions below.

Flaking and itchy skin is normal as the tattoo heals. Instead of scratching an itchy tattoo, gently slap or tap the surrounding area to let natural flaking or peeling occur.
Do not touch with unwashed hands while the tattoo is fresh and uncovered.
Avoid swimming or taking baths for 2 weeks.
Avoid working out or going to gym for 2 weeks.
Avoid direct sunlight while the tattoo is healing, the more it's exposed to the sun the faster it will fade or lighten up.
